If you love pattern but don't want to commit to wallpaper, try covering the mats of framed artwork with decorative papers. This idea also unites different types of art, bringing them together as a cohesive display.
Use a restrained color palette, like the blues and grays of these block-printed papers; we painted inexpensive wooden frames cream to match one another.
Use the knife to cut the paper to the shape of the mat. Remove the mat.
Step 3
Using the ruler to ensure straight lines, trim the interior cutout a bit more, as indicated by dotted line, so that the mat's beveled edge will be exposed when the mat is covered with the paper.
Step 4
Adhere paper to mat with spray adhesive, lining up edges carefully. Assemble frame, and hang.
