Hair-raising party decorations don't need to be costly or fussy. You can make these frightening flourishes with some inexpensive craft supplies in just a few minutes.
We covered a table with gauze and then affixed black tissue-paper tatters to the table and sweets-laden cake stands. Spooky card-stock spiderwebs hang from up above -- spun, perhaps, by the store-bought arachnid dangling nearby.
Cut a length of black tissue paper 9 inches wide (3 inches for smaller tatters). Make 2-inch (1 1/2-inch for small) accordion folds down the length of the paper; trim excess.
Step 2
Using a straightedge and a rotary cutter fitted with a decorative blade, cut folded paper into a V shape, leaving a 1-inch (1/2-inch for small) border at one end.
Step 3
Repeat with additional sheets of paper as necessary, and affix to desired surfaces with double-sided tape.
Photocopy the template onto card stock, enlarging it by 400 percent for the smaller web. (Enlarge copy an additional 150 percent for the larger web.) Cut out.
Step 5
Fold a 12-inch square sheet of black card stock (an 18-inch square for the large web) in half diagonally, and then fold in half twice more to form a small triangle.
Step 6
Trace onto card stock with a white pencil; use a craft knife to cut out pattern. Unfold, and hang with monofilament.
