Flowers and leaves give chicken and goose eggs a rich, complex look. We used red and green, but pastels would make pretty eggs, too. The design is achieved simply, using vinyl stickers and two dye baths. Vary the length of time in each dye bath to create different shades, as with these eggs. Use a permanent-ink pen to draw on flower stems. You can also stencil on flower centers.
Create vinyl cutouts using a leaf-shaped craft punch. leaf cutouts. Position a vinyl cutout on an egg. With your fingernail, rub gently around the entire outline of cutout, sealing it fully. This will help ensure crisp edges on the finished design. Use each cutout only one time.
Make a red dye bath: Add one teaspoon of white vinegar and five to 20 drops of red food coloring to one cup of hot water; stir it regularly to keep the color even. Submerge egg in dye bath until desired shade is reached. Dry egg with a paper towel.
