Pincushion Gift

These little sand-filled, pin-adorned pillows will make useful valentines for the sewers in your life. Use cotton-weave fabric or linen and 1/2-inch sequin pins. Create a pattern with a fabric marker or iron-on transfer paper (or just work freehand). Machine-stitch two rectangles together, right sides facing, leaving a 1 1/2-inch opening; turn right side out, and fill with sand. Sew pillow closed by hand, and insert pins.
