New Curtains

In "The Sound of Music," Maria used curtains to make dresses. This is our twist on that idea: Turn a vintage tablecloth into a charming curtain. You don't even have to stitch a channel into it for a curtain rod if you don't want to ruin the original design. Just hang the cloth over the rod, letting about a foot of material hang in the front; the scrunched fabric caught between window frame and rod should keep the cloth from slipping off. Tie it back with ribbon or string affixed to the frame with a pushpin or nail.
