Fancy Feet

Dress up little tootsies with an inexpensive pair of shoes, some glue, a few bits of fabric, and your imagination. In no time, ordinary shoes can become enchanted.

Fabric-Covered

For fabric-covered shoes, lay fabric, right side up, over toe area. With a disappearing-ink marker, trace along shoe seams. Cut out. Completely cover the toe area with fabric glue. Carefully lay fabric on top, gently pulling it tightly across so it doesn't pucker. To replace standard laces, cut contrasting fabric and adhesive interfacing 1? inches wide. Put fabric on interfacing, triple-fold lengthwise; press with a dry iron.

Flower-Topped

For fanciful slipper shoes, snip 2 artificial flowers (we used silk chrysanthemums, but other fabric flowers are fine, too) just below the bloom, and hot-glue one to each toe. With a needle and thread, hand stitch the blossom to the shoe to make it extra secure.
