My husband created this wonderful table setting. Due to the number of people we had for Christmas dinner, we moved dinner out into our living room. That meant we got to enjoy the glow of the fire, the mantel and the Christmas tree all through dinner. The base of the centerpiece is a piece of wood with bark from a black walnut tree we recently had removed from our front yard. My husband saved the wood so he can build a hope chest for our daughter out of it, but was willing to use a piece with bark on it for this beautiful centerpiece. On Christmas Eve, he was out in the garage with a chainsaw cutting it to the appropriate size for the table and angling the corners so that it looked perfect on the table. Surrounding the wood are ornaments and pointsettias and on top of the base is a candelabra, more pointsettias, leaves and pinecones. The table was finished off with bright red placemats and a poinsettia at each place setting. Overall, it was amazing and he earned rave reviews for his handiwork and creativity.
