Antiquing a Chair

Materials
  • For antiquing a chair: Primer
  • Kraft paper
  • Tape
  • Sanding sponge
  • Natural-bristle brush
  • 2 colors of paint
  • Nylon-polyester brush
  • Steel wool
  • 220-grit sandpaper
  • Paper towel or polishing cloth
  • Tinted Wax (instructions follow)
  • Clean, dry cloth
  • For the tinted wax:Butcher's wax
  • Small container
  • Artist's oil paint
  • Rotten Stone
  • Mineral spirits

Faux-Brick Painting

Steps:7
Create a convincing "brick" patio with nothing more than paint and a homemade stamp. 
Materials
  • Paint roller
  • Neutral background paint (we used Potter's Wheel (MS152), homedepot.com)
  • Natural sea sponge
  • Acrylic paint in raw umber
  • 19-by-10-inch piece of plywood
  • Kitchen sponges that are at least 7 1/2 by 4 1/2 inches (one sponge should make two "bricks")
  • Serrated kitchen knife
  • Craft glue
  • Chalk-line tool
  • Brick-colored paint [we used Brick Hearth (MS053)]
