Wooden Cheese Board

This handmade wooden cheese board is a wonderful present that commemorates the year it was given. Originally made in 2006, we've updated the template below so you can make it for the 2007 holiday season.

Tools and Materials
2007 template
Tape
Cheese board
Wood-burning tool with design transfer and tapered tips
Transfer paper (optional)
Ballpoint pen (optional )
Cheese and crackers (optional)

Cheese Board How-To
1. Choose a design, such as the 2007 template.

2. Download and print the 2007 template so it appears in reverse: Flip it either digitally on the computer, or on a photocopier. You can also resize your template on the photocopier.

3. Tape template, design-side down, onto the cheese board.

4. Use the wood-burning tool with design transfer tip, and slowly rub over the design. The design will transfer onto the board. (Alternatively, you can tape the template design-side up, and place transfer paper between the design and the board. Then trace the pattern with a ballpoint pen.)

5. Burn pattern into wood using the tapered tip. (The 2007 template will take 15 to 20 minutes to burn properly.)

6. Package the board with cheese and crackers.
