A simple cardboard jewelry-box top is affixed with old-fashioned scrapbook or crafting paper, ribbon, and our custom-designed clip art that helps evoke yesteryear. One batch of bark will fill five boxes.

1. Cut a 6 3/4-by-14-inch strip of red glassine. Center it inside the base of a 7-by-5 1/4-by-1 inch cardboard jewelry box.

2. Cut a 5 1/2-by-7 1/2 piece of scrapbook paper (ours has a wood-grain design; see Sources). Wrap it around the box lid, securing inside with double-sided tape.

3. Cut a 13-inch strip of red paper ribbon. Create a loop, crossing tails. Secure with double-sided tape. Affix ribbon to top of box lid with tape.

4. Using an ink-jet printer, print the clip-art labels onto 8 1/2-by-11-inch heavyweight paper. Cut out. Secure a label to the box, over the ribbon, with double-sided tape.

5. Fill the box with bark, cover with glassine, and top with lid.
