The Children's Table1 Rating (See All) ![]() You won't hear one complaint from the children's table this year when you decorate it with a silhouette tablecloth and coloring-book place cards. Complete the festive table with a tasty napkin ring. Fill a cellophane bag with a treat the kids can snack on before dinner or on the car ride home, such as dried cranberries, nuts, or raisins. Close the bag with a piece of twine and tie the bag around the folded napkin. Silhouette Tablecloth Tools and Materials Silhouette Tablecloth How-To 2. Use a small plate to trace a scallop design around the edges of the paper. Using scissors, cut out the design. You can also use pinking shears for a different design. 3. Using a white pencil, trace several Thanksgiving shapes onto black construction paper. You can use our silhouette templates, or create your own. Cut them out. 4. Use a glue stick to attach the silhouettes to the scalloped edges of the kraft paper. Be sure to position the shapes so they will hang right-side up. Turkey Coloring Book Place Card Tools and Materials Turkey Coloring Book Place Card How-To 2. To make the cover of the coloring book, use a glue stick to glue the head, chest, and feet of one white turkey to one black turkey. Do not glue the feathers of the turkey (the head and chest area serve as the binding, the feet as the stand, and the feathers as the pages of the coloring book). Glue the second white turkey to the first in the same manner. 3. Position the second black turkey shape so it's facing the first one. Glue in remaining two white shapes to the second black turkey, leaving the feathers free. 4. Glue the heads and chests of the two halves together, leaving the ankles, feet, and feathers unglued. 5. Fan out the feather pages. Separate the feet and fold the legs up at the ankles, and so that the turkey can stand. Use a white pencil to write the child's name on the body of the turkey. 6. Make a crayon bundle for each place setting. Cut a piece of brown kraft paper to 2 by 4 inches. Wrap kraft paper around a bundle of 5 crayons. Tie with waxed twine. |
