Study Carrel

School children will do their thinking inside the box, even when studying in busy rooms, if their parents turn cardboard cartons into homework centers. As Martha and her young friend Jake demonstrate, the technique is easy. Simply cut away the bottom, top, and one long side of a large packing box. Trim the height, then slope the sides of the carrel; finish edges with colored duct tape. Rubber bands, clips, and tacks help organize notes, calendars, and other items.
