Embellishing a top sheet and pillowcases is a simple two-step process: First, make the stencil using our template, and then apply the paint. 

You might need to adjust the size of the template so that there are full stenciled motifs (no partial ones) along the top sheet or pillowcase edge.

1. Download the 'ohi'a-lehua-flower template, and print it, resizing it as needed.

2. Make a stencil: Lay the printout on waterproof or stencil paper, and tape them to a cutting mat.

3. Cut out the motif with a craft knife; discard printout and motif cutout.

4. Draw a grid along the edge of top sheet or pillowcase to guide the stencil placement, using a ruler and a disappearing-ink pen; start 1 1/2 inches in from the edge.

5. Stencil motif: Place stencil in the first marked space in the grid. (For pillowcases, put a layer of parchment inside to prevent paint from bleeding through.) Dab fabric paint inside stencil with a natural sponge. Let dry before shifting stencil to repeat. When paint is dry, set the paint following paint manufacturer's instructions.
