Spring Bulbs Basket4 Ratings (See All)  Here we celebrate purple and honor the early springtime landscape by bringing it inside -- and turning the mantel into a garden path. The rectangular baskets in a range of heights mimic the rows of plants you'd find in a well-tended backyard border. As a homage to the traditional hay covering used when forcing bulbs, we covered the soil on these with straw. All of the purple flowers, except the pansies, come from bulbs and can be bought potted at your local nursery (from left): Crocus 'Ruby Giant,' Pansy 'Delta Blue Blotch,' P. 'Delta Dark Blue Blotch,' Hyacinth 'Blue Pearl,' glory-of-the-snow, and Iris 'J.S. Dijt.'
