Pillowcase Trick-or-Treat Bags
![]() For the serious Halloween reveler, the trick-or-treat bag isn't merely a vessel for the evening's spoils; it must also be a spooky accessory to his or her costume. To create a bag equal to the task, all you'll need is an old pillowcase, a bit of rope, and some iron-on patches. Choose from our assortment of ghostly faces, or you can create your own gruesome expression. Tools and Materials Pillowcase Bag How-To 2. Lay the pillowcase flat. Place the eyes and the mouth, fusible side down, about 12 inches from the pillowcase's opening. Lay a press cloth over the eyes and mouth, and press with a dry iron set on medium. 3. To make a drawstring, cut 2 oval-shape re-enforcement holes about 1 1/2 inches long and 1 inch wide from the remaining iron-on material. Iron them onto the inside of the pillowcase hem, on either side of the seam. Using a small pair of scissors, cut vertical openings about 1/2 inch long at the center of each oval. Cut a piece of rope, such as clothesline, to approximately 54 inches. Attach a safety pin to one end of the rope, and pass it through the pillowcase. Remove the pin and knot the ends together. If you have a small child, shorten the pillowcase by cutting the bottom and sewing it closed. Resources |
