Packing a Carry-On

As a frequent traveler, Martha has learned to pack and unpack her belongings with ease. Follow these basic tips to avoid packing problems:

  • Wrap clothing in acid-free tissue paper for protection.
  • Save shoe bags and repurpose them for packing shoes; fit them around the perimeter of your luggage.
  • Tie a distinguishing ribbon to the outside of your bag so you are sure to spot it easily, anywhere.
  • Include work or leisure reading for entertainment -- Martha uses an Amazon Kindle -- and an easy-to-access light layer such as a pashmina in case you get cold.
