Outdoor Canvas Tablecloth

Made from a series of canvas panels laced together with cord, this tablecloth fits a standard table for 10. Ours is 148 inches long by 46 inches wide. You can adjust the size, adding or subtracting a center panel for each pair of place settings.

1. Cut 157 inches of blue cotton canvas into two 31-by-46-inch pieces (center panels) and two 47 1/2-by-46-inch pieces (end panels).

2. Fold under 1 1/2 inches on both long sides of each center panel, and press flat with an iron. With chalk, draw a line 1/2 inch from the edge along the folded sides, and make a dot every 3 inches. Repeat on 1 short end of each end panel. Affix eyelets at marks.

3. Fold 7/8-inch-wide single-fold red bias tape (you'll need 2 packages) in half lengthwise, and press flat with the iron. Sandwich raw edges of all panels between folds of bias tape cut to fit; secure with fabric glue.

4. Arrange panels side by side, eyelets aligned. Lace panels with 7 yards of red acrylic cord divided into 3 equal portions, beginning and ending with a half-knot. To prevent cords from unraveling, bind ends with clear adhesive tape.
