Nut Wreath with Steve Schirripa

Turn seasonal hard-shelled nuts into a festive wreath in just a few simple steps.

Get the Nut Wreath How-To.

Gilding
On "The Martha Stewart Show," Martha also gilded the nuts in shades of gold for an elegant effect.

Tools and Materials
Selection of nuts (Martha used walnuts, hazelnuts, pecans, and almonds.)
Size (gilding adhesive)
Flat-bristle paintbrush
Cooling rack
Mica powder in a selection of gold tones (Martha used Sunset Gold, Sparkle Gold, and Majestic Gold.)
Soft paintbrush or blush makeup brush

Gilding How-To
1. Paint nuts with size and place on cooling rack for about 25 minutes to develop proper tack. When the size has turned completely clear, nuts are ready to gild. Tip: Size will hold tack for more than 24 hours.

2. Gently brush mica powder on sized nuts, alternating shades of gold.

Resources
Size and Mica powder are available from Sepp Leaf Products. Wreath form is available from 3ringcircles.com.
