Types of Tins
Muffin tins come in three sizes: mini, standard, and jumbo. The standard-size tin comes with either 6 or 12 cups (each with 1/2-cup capacity). Mini tins have 12 or 24 cups (each with a 2-tablespoon capacity), and jumbo ones have 6 (each with a 1-cup capacity).

Other Uses
Besides muffins and cupcakes, you can use the mini tins to make tiny quiches, pastry cups to fill for appetizers, or bite-size desserts, such as mini cheesecakes. You can also bake individual fruit pies or meat loaves in the jumbo tins.

How To Buy
Metallic tins are made with nonstick or stainless-steel surfaces. Some are made of silicone; they're flexible, nonstick, and microwavesafe. Look for any of these pans in the baking section of houseware and department stores and some supermarkets.
