Faux Bois Peg Rack
![]() Tools and Materials Faux Bois Peg Rack How-To 2. Pour mixture into a plastic container, and insert the branch. Allow it to sit for at least 6 hours. Once set, remove from the container, slice the mold with a utility knife, and remove the branch. 3. Mix the wood putty; we mixed ours with a ratio of 3 parts putty to 1 part water. Set the mold back into the container, and pour in the putty. Allow to sit for two hours, and remove from the mold. It will need to sit overnight before you can paint it. Repeat this step for the other pegs (we used 5 pegs). If you want to speed up the drying process, place the piece in a 200 degree oven for 2 hours. 4. Drill into the base of the faux-branch with the 1/4-inch bit; insert one of the dowel screws. Secure with adhesive. Apply a coat of metallic paint. Once dry, attach to the oak board; use the 3/16-inch drill bit to drill 5 holes, spaced at 7-inches intervals. Screw in the pegs. |
