Electric Grills

Ideal for
These grills, which are a cinch to use, can be a good alternative to charcoal or gas in locations where open-flame cooking is prohibited.

What to Know
Electric grills employ a heating element similar to that of an electric kitchen range; most do not get hot enough to sear or create juices that flare and impart a grilled flavor. Even those that reach a high heat usually do not produce food that is as tasty as that cooked with charcoal or gas. The most desirable electric grills are made of heavy-gauge stainless steel and can heat up to seven hundred degrees. Before buying one, check the length of its cord; extension cords should not be used, as these will greatly affect the grill's performance and safety.

Cost
$120 to $2,500
