Amaryllis Arranging

These tropical plants, native to South America, make a beautiful addition to your home during the holidays. At $12 to $18 per stem, you only need one or two amaryllis to make a simple floral arrangement.

Tools and Materials
One or two amaryllis
Rubber bands
Small, shallow vase
Flower food
Scented geranium
Green hypericum

Amaryllis Arranging How-To
1. First, you'll need to remove the pollen by taking out the anthers from the slightly closed bloom. Pollen can stain table linens, clothes, and the flower itself.

2. Wrap a rubber band around the base stem, preventing the stem from curling.

3. Place one or two stems in a vase. Fill the vase with warm water and flower food and add scented geranium and green hypericum. With proper care, amaryllis can last for up to two weeks.
