I first began by decorating my own baby shower cakes 14 years ago. I am an artist with a BFA and wanted to try my hand at it. The cakes were so well received that for the next few years I found myself filling orders. However, cake was not my true love so I found another way to do the decorating in a different form. That is when Better Bit of Butter Cookies was born. I began with my hand decorated line of butter cookies. I have enjoyed taking traditional confection to the next level, where sweet meets stylish and is a lovely work of art as well as delicious. However, I noticed there was a want for a more everyday cookie, so in 2011 my second line of cookies was born. A decadent line of handcrafted artisan cookies which blend my original butter cookie recipe with uncommon flavor combinations. While there is still a strong demand for my decorated cookies, I am switching my main focus to my Artisan line of cookies. I see this line of cookies moving into the mainstream market.

For many years I worked out of my home kitchen. Within the last 2 years I have branched out into a small shared storefront and commercial kitchen. I love being in a storefront; customers are able to pop in at their convenience to order cookies or purchase on the spot. However, as my company is beginning to expand we may need to consider a larger shop.

What inspires you?

A strong passion to create and my customers are what drive me forward. My desire to make the best cookie I can with the finest ingredients possible. My customers motivate me with their accolades and devotion to my cookies. To know that so many people love what I do is all I need to be motivated to create a wonderful product that doesn't disappoint.

What makes your business stand out?

We produce an old style, hand made cookie with a modern twist. Our cookies are a daring shape with uniquely bold flavor combinations. They are a generously chunky cookie that is tender and buttery. Style is a key element throughout the company from the crispy sugared edge, or the citrus glaze of the cookies, to the detailed and spunky new logo.

What advice would you give an aspiring creative entrepreneur?

If you believe in it stick with it. It is a lot of hard work and many hours but the pay off will be worth it.

What does American Made mean to you?

American Made to me means a company that was built from a belief. A company that starts out with very little but has a dream and a need to change their surroundings for the better. A company that believes it can make a difference and works very hard to do so.

I grew up with Christine and can remember how she loved to bake. She has a great passion for what she does and it shows through in her finished product. BBB has my vote! Good luck Christine.
