Tell us about your business.Savory Salads started with a fruit cup. It began with the owner Stephanie, selling fruit cups to water parks. As it grew it began to expand it's market and produce gourmet boxed lunches for hotels and other catered events. It naturally progressed into it's first retail location in 2012 and will be opening it's second location in Arlington Heights, IL by the end of 2014.
Tell us about your workspace, shop, or studio. Our workspace is a small retail spot. It is 1000 sq. feet and has 19 chairs. It is amazing we process as much food as we do currently.
What inspires you?Everything. I am inspired by my own visits to restaurants, childhood memories, and foods I've experienced on my travels.
What makes your business stand out?We are a fast casual restaurant but we make most all of our food from scratch. We bake our own panini loaves we make our soups from scratch, we make our dressings from scratch and fresh chop our produce, we even make our own roast beef!
What advice would you give an aspiring creative entrepreneur?Work hard and smart and you will prosper. Every idea is worth a try, but some do not work out. Watch your numbers and try again. Don't take what people say about your business personally. There will be great days and there will be bad days but every single day you will learn something.
What does American Made mean to you?American Made is a pioneer spirit within your company. It is also a sense of loyalty and an, "I've got your back attitude."
