Tell us about your business.

I've been crafting since I was a kid. After numerous friends and relatives said I should start a business, I did. There were a couple of rough starts and frustrating phases, but once I found stable seller sites like Etsy and Super E-Shops, it became easier to manage and allow me to concentrate on the creative end of things. I do want to eventually expand into items like soaps, candles, lip balms, etc., but need to explore the regulations involved so I can comply - this may be a year or so off. I do intend to add more fragranced items, as that has always been a specialty of mine. I work mainly by inspiration, seeing components and visualizing a finished project. Most of my items are one-of-a-kind though once I expand into fragrance, that will change.

Tell us about your workspace, shop, or studio.

I work from home, at a simple table, cutting board and countertop.

What inspires you?

Many things can inspire me - seasons, styles (especially steampunk, goth and Victorian), cultures...my husand tells me I "find my joy" in very diverse places, and that pretty much sums up my inspirational base.

What makes your business stand out?

Stand out...perhaps quirkiness of style, as it depends upon my inspirations rather than pre-conceived patterns. The "quirk" doesn't extend to my customer service - I strive always to keep my customers happy and inspired - but you never know what I may pop up with product-wise!

What advice would you give an aspiring creative entrepreneur?

Be true to yourself. Don't try to "be" or copy another maker, though being inspired by them is perfectly fine. Study yourself, find what makes you *you*, and build on that. And do keep organized. :-)

What does American Made mean to you?

It means made in America, with all the cultural diversity, heritage, quality and taste America so uniquely represents.
