Tell us about your business.

My Story began in a small log cabin in central New York's finger lakes region where I started creating organic soap and organic body care in my home. I envisioned each bar before creating it. Each one came out unique with exceptional qualities for the skin. Made with organic oils, my soap looks earthy and natural. Ingredients include local products like squash butter and charred cherry pits that are converted into bio-friendly products for the skin, giving my customers and our planet a recyclable & sustainable solution. My business model is now evolving into a premier wholesale soap and body care company that caters to the needs of health-conscious shop owners and retail gift store owners who care about what they carry in their stores. Now in our fifth year, we have over 150 stores nation-wide and in Canada and continue to grow weekly. As a baker, I wanted my product to last longer than a cake so I modeled a Triple Citrus Soap after a Triple Citrus Cake and it changed my life.

In 2010, Mooseberry Soap Company moved to a warehouse facility in Penfield, NY where the company has been steadily growing ever since. In front of the soap manufacturing operation, we have a small cafe where we serve organic coffees & teas, smoothies and pastries while patrons shop for our products and other local artisan gifts in our gift shop.

What inspires you?

A uniquely constructed handmade piece of art A beautifully composed piece of music A gorgeous day watching hummingbirds at my feeder People who love my product Helping someone find a solution that changes their life for the better I try to enjoy each and every day

What makes your business stand out?

My products not only feel good on the skin, they capture the senses. A popular natural smelling beautiful bar like Apple Quinoa contains clay to draw toxins, organic oils and butters to moisturize and quinoa seeds to exfoliate. Our formula is moisturize - purify - exfoliate. Every product is handmade and unique with exceptional properties for the skin.

What advice would you give an aspiring creative entrepreneur?

Do what you are passionate about Don't give up when the going gets tough Be confident in what you are doing Never say never Be flexible and willing to change, even when change is hard

What does American Made mean to you?

American Made means that the people making the product care about where their supplies are sourced, what goes into making their products and how the final product looks to those watching locally and around the globe. Of course, one has to have pride in this country, in order to care deeply about how our American Made products are portrayed to others around the world.
