After leaving a job on Wall Street to head West to Jackson Hole I lost my job in the 2008 downturn. I had fallen in love with Jackson, and my partner, and knew I needed to stay and make it work. I got involved with creating art again and working with glass. I created a line of glass belt buckles, Strapped Belts, that quickly became a hit in town. On a whim I moved into a vacant coffee shop and opened a belt buckle pop up shop. At the end of the Summer I knew I had something good, and started looking for a long term space. 5 years later, I am the owner, of two shops, both in the valley, that carry work from over 150 artists around the US. We carry work from local and regional artists, but also bring in work from artists around the country. We are not your typical handmade shop! We bring in functional, contemporary work from passionate artists.

MADE is a 500 sq ft retail space in downtown Jackson Hole WY. We are located in Gaslight Alley,a boardwalked nook just off of the town square. The shop is full of vintage fixtures and furniture that show off the work of 150+ artists. From jewelry to stationary, pillows to stuffed animals, MADE has a little bit of all things cool!

What inspires you?

We are inspired by the need to bring the focus back to American made products. The artists we work with provide inspiration everyday. The stories, life events, babies and more that effect our business everyday are a continual reminder that we are effected the lives of these American makers. The continual creative juices that flow our of our artists, and the responses we get from customers is always a reminder that what we are doing is just plain cool!

What makes your business stand out?

MADE succeeds and stands out because of our customer service, our passion to create something that is different and always changing. We live in a tourist town in the West. We are surrounded by shops that provide goods for those travels, but we are trying to be different. We focus on our local and regular customers while at the same time sending visitors home with something they love and can be proud of.

What advice would you give an aspiring creative entrepreneur?

Go for it, and make it work. It is a ton of work, but that makes it fun. I have learned so much since starting the shops, but I have also asked so many people for help.

What does American Made mean to you?

American Made doesn't mean solely made within the boarders of the United States, but made with quality and pride by artists and designers who pour themselves into their work.
