Tell us about your business.

The essence of Sara Designs was born from materials gathered around the world and embodies the notion that one woman can be many things. It all began during childhood travels to Paris every summer, where Sara was captivated by the city’s detailed, classic couture and lavish attention to detail. To this day, her wanderlust inspires each season’s collection with materials and concepts gathered during her perpetual travels. Currently, the collection can be found around the world in Bloomingdales, Harvey Nichols,, Anthropologie, Free People, Swell and other high-end department stores.

Our studio is located in the chic neighborhood of the Upper East Side of Manhattan where Sara has transformed a brownstone townhouse into a charming work space with an amazing garden. The studio houses the showroom, sales, PR and design team where they all work together and commit to the growth of the brand. Sara's decision to place her business in a residential neighborhood has greatly influenced the collection. Located outside of the fashion district keeps her determined and focused, as a mother of two she manages to grow her business and prioritize her family.

What inspires you?

Influenced by Sara's international background and global travels, Sara Designs has received worldwide praise for its vibrant and eclectic handmade accessories. Frequently traveling to the beaches of Costa Rica has influenced her overall aesthetic of the brand. Her most recent collection was inspired by the Maasai culture and designing jewelry using natural materials and colorful beads. The collection celebrates the colorful life of an independent, free spirited woman, a woman who isn't afraid to take a risk by expressing herself.

What makes your business stand out?

Using high-quality materials, lush leathers, and fine crystals allows Sara Designs watches and jewelry to stand out while embracing a colorful world view with an edgy twist. Lending a distinctive charm to the classic, yet bold pieces, truly offers a fashionable product. With Sara's extensive background in jewelry and her husband's knowledge as an avid watch collector, the experience combine has created a unique product with no competition. Aside from quality, our location truly influences our passion to be unique and keeps us grounded outside the realm of NYC .

What advice would you give an aspiring creative entrepreneur?

"Stick to what you believe in. In the industry, any industry really, it can be easy to lose site of your original focus. Starting a brand takes time so it's imperative to stay motivated. I always believe in working closely with your partners and anticipating their needs will be beneficial for both. It's important to stay intuitive, trust your instinct and always follow your heart."

What does American Made mean to you?

Producing our entire collection in the US defines who we are as a brand. When starting to design, it was rare to find jewelry/watches that were handmade in NYC. Creating a product from start to finish gave Sara the opportunity to control every aspect of the design process. With time, it became an advantage and customers truly respect the quality and a quick turn around of the product they wear everyday. We take pride in producing our collection here in NYC where inspiration surrounds us and the options of design are endless.
