Tell us about your business.we are BASIN! we want to make items that people adore, that they pass on through the generations. we see a direct problem with things that are not meant to last. we aim to help provide the goods that we would want to pass on to our kin. we are in love with what is happing in the design world! it kinda gets us all tingly!
Tell us about your workspace, shop, or studio.we are a grass roots design/work studio, in which we practice wood working, welding, ceramics and sewing.
What inspires you?imagine your in a peaceful box, lets say a white box, with lots of great light! now imagine your kind of lonely and would like some comapany, maybe some friends that are fun to be around and make you feel good about the world. now, what are some traits of these friends? for us, welove people with personality! the same is true for the items we have in our lifes! a good friend of mine once told me that my designs look like they could get up and start walking around! this to me was one of the best compliments I had received! what started it all for me was the bourellec brothers, and Nendo they are true hero's to me. simple with personality.
What makes your business stand out?we want life to be simple and meaningful, the same is wanted of our designs that we offer. I dont think we intend to stand out, rather we hope to compliment other elements of life. so much of life is geared towards competition? why for what reason? we are in a way all building blocks, are hope and intent is to be strong building blocks and to hopefully be a part of something bigger then us! hows thats for cheesy!
What advice would you give an aspiring creative entrepreneur?be excited about what others are doing around you. dont run the worlds race, run, walk, jump, skip, hop, or trot your own! you have such a power inside you that needs to be you!
What does American Made mean to you?made in the USA! mean, green & clean! NOT; grown in the usa , shipped 1,000's of miles to china (or where ever) made into building materials and then shipped back to us. No its simple, all materials from and manufactured here. I'm excited with the prospect that we can start using materials that are specific to our areas, that you have to seek items out specific to there region, not going to a box store and finding everthing you need and more! how unexciting is that! so much of a good find is the find!
