Tell us about your business.

I started this business kind of on a whim last year, not even knowing if anyone would be interested in my work, and low and behold it took off... I sold my first piece the same day it was listed. I have done several custom orders which has been a great reward. I'm always excited when someone buys a piece of mine or requests something specific. I've learned so much along the way about myself and painting furniture.

Tell us about your workspace, shop, or studio.

I work from home, I have 2 kids, (4 & 2) with another on the way. I paint in the evenings in my front room, cleared and tarped, after the kids have gone asleep. I bring the pieces outside to show to the interested buyer, but some day I would love to have a shop of my own!

What inspires you?

I'm inspired by the furniture itself. I often see a piece and can imagine it in its new form and I get excited. I love to design new spaces and also what a new dresser or bed frame can do to a stale space. The colors I choose often come from colors found at the beach.

What makes your business stand out?

I believe my business is different because I stick to my aesthetic of pieces that would be found in any beach house... But are also very transitional and can be used in other style homes. Most companies have a farm house feel, which seems to be everywhere.

What advice would you give an aspiring creative entrepreneur?

Don't give up and don't settle. Stay true to what you enjoy about your art and what you enjoy about your creativity.

What does American Made mean to you?

American made means it is made in the land of the home and the free. By someone like me with a family, a story and talent waiting to share with those around them.
