Tell us about your business.

It all started as a one-off craft project. Neighbors and family tried the Somniaire and quickly said, "are you nuts? You need to sell your swinging outdoor bed to the world!" So, I took their advice and am now building Somniaires for anyone who takes that perfect summer nap seriously. Dedicated to the proposition that all people should be able to enjoy true comfort and relaxation when enjoying the great outdoors! Whether it's by a pool, your patio or even discovered at a fine resort, The Somniaire is becoming a favorite backyard "destination".

Tell us about your workspace, shop, or studio.

Presently, my shop is either my outdoor deck (product takes up sizable area) or my basement workshop. My assistant is my Golden Retriever, Yogi.

What inspires you?

What I strive for and look for in product design is the perfect balance of aesthetic design and functionality. Hard to find. When I design something to be used or enjoyed, I also try to keep the design simple. Not overthink it–and that's what Ive accomplished with the Somniaire.

What makes your business stand out?

Somniare is unique. Am not looking to just create outdoor furniture that looks or performs like others. Why would I do that? The world is flooded with "me too" products.

What advice would you give an aspiring creative entrepreneur?

My favorite quote in business: "There are dreamers---and there are doers. Dreamers work for doers."

What does American Made mean to you?

American Made is a reflection of who we are as a country and where we have all come from. Anything that is American Made means it has a bit of "American Soul", that is, it comes with a heritage, a bloodline that goes back generations. These aspects are reflected in the quality of American Made items.
