Libby Lane Leather Goods
American Made Since 2011
Libby Lane LLC is a Texas Limited Liability Company. Libby Lane handbags are functional and stylish, with clean details rooted in equine tradition. Libby Lane is a sophisticated melding of the designer's exposure to high fashion, fine art, and her upbringing on a fourth-generation cattle ranch in West Texas. Lane herself comes from artist stock and after studying Fashion Design at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, she decided to return to Texas, her original source of inspiration. "I am forever influenced by the unassuming ways of the western cowboy, where the most important words in design are quality and durability,” she says. Lane carefully hand constructs each piece of domestically sourced leather, illuminating its loveliness with clean design. Each piece recalls the durable accessories you can still find on American ranches, but is finished with sophistication that makes them easily stylish and a unique staple. "We are all going back to the basics," Lane says.
What makes your business unique? My business is a unique one since each piece is hand cut and hand sewn in Texas from beautiful domestic cowhide. Libby Lane received her BFA at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2009 and started her business in 2011. She decided women needed a durable carry all tote that would be versatile enough to take from work, to the gym, and out to a dinner date. Each hide in the collection is hand sourced by Libby Lane from local distributors in Texas. The hides are taken back to the studio where the hand made process begins. Libby Lane chooses to showcase each cows life by showcasing natural marks (imperfections) in the hides in each of the unlined bags. All of the straps are hand cut from English bridle leather and edged to perfection. The bags are made to be as durable as saddle bags and is mainly made from water resistant leather. The collection is minimal and chic which make for a modern, architectural design to be carried for years.
