Notes to self® socks target the subconscious mind - most receptive early morning & late at night - improving your thoughts, actions & performance

Tell us about your business.

I’ve believed in positive affirmations - phrases that we say to ourselves to build confidence and train our minds - for many years. The idea came to me while reading a book (on a road trip with my feet on the dashboard), thinking about the fact that the best time to say positive affirmations is first thing in the morning and late at night, when the conscious filters aren't fully 'up'. The subconscious mind is most accessible then. I thought, “What if I put positive affirmations on the toes of socks...then at least 2x a day, the person wearing them would see those words, and they'd be training their mind.” I also thought, “What if kids too young to read had ‘I am smart’ on their toes…what if that became one of the first phrases that they learned to say? How might that impact their entire life?” notes to self® socks are sold online and in over 600 locations nationwide. Our goal by late 2014 is to get a million pairs on people's feet, thru sales & donations of socks to the underprivileged

What makes your business stand out?

We hope that our socks play a role in helping people reach their other wellness goals. My sister wears the socks when she trains for marathons. Many have given the ‘I am strong’ socks to friends battling cancer or facing surgery. We hope that the words on the socks encourage people through whatever they are facing. One favorite is ‘I am happy’. When people wear those socks, they smile! The ‘I am perfectly me’ socks were named by our 18 year old daughter. We hope that those remind the wearer that the goal is not perfection, but to be perfectly yourself….and the best version of yourself. A wonderful aspect of the socks is that when the wearer looks down at the words, they think about the person that gave them the socks…and how they believe in them too!

What's the best business advice you've received?

The best business advice I've ever received is to believe in myself and to trust my instincts.
