Holly Camp Cards
American Made Since 2008
Holly Camp Cards began with a very simple idea – "I think this will be fun." I'm a freelance illustrator, and had spent too much time creating "work" paintings. I began my line of greeting cards so that I could have a "fun" painting option. And now it's my passion! These illustrated cards are whimsical and humorous, and there are more than 50 designs in the ever-expanding collection. The illustrations are from my original acrylic paintings, and are based on whichever animal I'm currently infatuated with. The cards are distributed in shops and galleries across the country – and I'm ready for more! I am thrilled to see Holly Camp Cards expanding to more shops, more people, and more mailboxes. But I want to see it go to the next level – and I need your help to make that happen! I would love to see these cards in more shops internationally, and hope to print on a wider range of products. Please help me make Holly Camp Cards a go-to for special occasions or just to say "hi!"
What makes your business unique?Getting an unexpected letter in the mail is a wonderful and simple treat. Holly Camp Cards offers greeting cards that are a unique fit for all your unique friends. [Is your friend a Drunktopus? Or a Birthday Dinosaur? Or a Mama Bird?] Handmade creations of all types are so inspiring and so much more satisfying than their corporate counterparts. Say hello in a meaningful way! Additionally, I have been working hard to apply my style to new mediums. One recent obsession – needle felting! I've been experimenting with wool to resemble the same playful shapes in my illustrated animals. I just made felted birds that incorporate a great curly wool, and I think I'm smitten! I see room to grow in a variety of markets, and would love to expand my line to include apparel, accessories, and toys.
What's the best business advice you've received?Don't be afraid to erase everything. Sometimes starting over with a newly clean piece of illustration board is more productive and relieving than reworking the same single line all day long.
