Tell us about your business.

We are a father (in-law) and daughter (in-law) custom woodworking design - build team. Dad is a retired math teacher, lifelong tinkerer from a long line of tinkerers who has been building custom furniture and cabinetwork for friends and family for decades. Daughter is a designer who got a chance to work with Dad when restoring our 1920’s bungalow. We had fun working together and decided this is the partnership we had both been looking for. We started by advertising products we had designed and built for our own home and have expanded to offer modern storage pieces and home goods. As our business grows we are making more utilitarian products for every day use in addition to our custom furniture pieces. We hope to grow our business enough to create meaningful, sustainable jobs in rural New York.

What makes your business stand out?

We harvest the majority of the wood we use ourselves from our home in Otto, NY and mill it in small batches at a local sawmill. Our products are unique because of our commitment to original and thoughtful design, locally sourced wood and the highest quality of craftsmanship.

What's the best business advice you've received?

"Try to find a way to do what no one else is doing". Not for the sake of novelty alone but so you don't have to worry about the competition.
