Tell us about your business. My love affair with fabric and fiber started early. At the age of 12, after several unsuccessful shopping trips, I was frustrated not to find what I wanted. My father, Ernest (who I honor with his name) gave me rudimentary instructions on the operation of the family sewing machine along with the directive to “Do your thing, kid.” Without hesitation, I hit the pedal, and haven't stopped since. After decades of designing and manufacturing all things textiles, from handbags to wedding dresses, I am now focusing on what I'm most passionate about; show stopping coats. My coats are created for specific clients. From a rock star jacket to a debonair evening coat, I use high-quality fabrics, sewn with extreme attention to detail and finish. This often involves time-consuming hand-executed techniques, but look and fit take priority over cost and effort. I believe that acquiring a well-made coat that reflects your individuality, is an important part of embracing your style.
What makes your business stand out?I only produce a limited number of coats each year. I remain mindful of my client’s personalities and approach every project with reverence. This one-on-one association forms a haute couture experience culminating in a work of art.
What's the best business advice you've received? Not advice, but some of my favorite quotes I like to live and design by: Luxury must be comfortable, otherwise it is not luxury. - Coco Chanel “There's more to clothing than just adornment. It does more than merely change how the world perceives us. It changes how we perceive ourselves.” ― Jacqueline Carey “You gotta have style. It helps you get down the stairs. It helps you get up in the morning. It’s a way of life.” – Mrs. Diane Vreeland
