Tell us about your business.I am a 22 year old female woodworker and furniture designer and recent graduate of the Maine College of Art. I started woodworking at 15 and haven't stopped yet. The start of my business has naturally evolved in a short time. I conceptualize, design and build all of my furniture pieces and have received an amazing response to my hands on approach. I create furniture objects intended to impact my clients personally in their home environments. As of right now I am the sole member of amechanic and the future is everything. I currently build limited edition pieces, in conjunction to that I am developing a line of production objects. I have dreams of expanding into a luxury furniture brand spearheaded by a strong young women.
What makes your business stand out?amechanic uniquely combines art, craft, and design. The scale of my business is intimate and personal. I am my business, there is no separation between my vision and amechanic. I live for my work and put my heart and soul into it. As a young female entrepreneur I feel the American Made movement embodies my mission as a maker. I am an advocate for hand crafted objects and believe my work brings happiness to others. The fact that I am a one women operation truly sets me apart from other furniture makers. I feel my work truly speaks for itself.
What's the best business advice you've received? The best business advice I ever received was to toughen up and don't ever stop working towards your dreams.
