Flea Market Rx
American Made Since 2011
Necessity may be the mother of invention, but recession is the mother of REinvention. An interior designer by trade (and flea market junkie), I found myself downsized from a corporate job, but with 20 years of collected finds to sell. I have always lived (and designed) by the William Morris mantra “Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful". My focus became about using my most sustainable resource - ME - to create both utility & beauty for others. My 1st design started life as rusty agricultural feeder but became a chandelier - I strung up a socket, the light bulb went on (literally), and Flea Market Rx was born - the prescription for my future. I haven't looked back and have grown Flea Market Rx into an international brand selling both wholesale and direct to consumer. Next stop? With a lot of elbow grease and even more heart, the sky is the limit for Flea Market Rx.
What makes your business unique?I am my customer. Everything I design is inspired by an unsatisfied search in the marketplace, whether for form, function or finish. I strive to produce highly useful, authentic, heirloom quality items for the home using only reclaimed, repurposed and reimagined materials. Like a bespoke tailored suit, it's the details and craftsmanship you DO NOT see that make it so exquisite. Handfinished rich textural patinas and unexpected yet cohesive design detailing make Flea Market Rx's product line unique. We do not purport to have invented this design genre, but our execution is unparalleled in today's machine made and machine sprayed market.
What's the best business advice you've received?“A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.” Herm Albright
