Tell us about your business.Potlicker specializes in beer jelly, wine jelly & small-batch artisan jams. Serve these preserves on toast, cheese platters, & over meats. This began as food blog turned canning addiction. One long winter of canning, I ran out of fruit and promptly turned to my cabinets. I rarely run out of beer. I began to develop my beer jelly which has been a surprise hit. Currently my husband and I hand-pour close to 1000 jars of jelly a week. We have 18 flavors available for retail and bring almost 30 flavors to farmers markets. Potlicker Kitchen is in its second year of business and our jams and jellies can be found on store shelves in 7 states, which makes us very excited about our future. As we grow we hope to bring our beer jelly nationwide by using favorite brews tailored to each region of the country.
What makes your business stand out?Our flavors! To make our farmers market line I forage wild foods (often invasies) or source local fruits to blend with my own organic herbs. The beer jelly and wine jelly we make could not be made without great product from other Vermont producers.
What's the best business advice you've received? No body loves your business like you do. It is not so much advice but words I try to remember.
