Ford Thomas Furniture
Tell us about your business. My father did woodworking as a hobby. I grew up having access to a wood shop and a Dad who was willing to help me when I needed to make something. After graduating from college in horticulture, I had become very curious and excited about the prospect of becoming a full time woodworker. I am self taught. In 1979 I began doing woodworking professionally. I make custom furniture. I prefer designing contemporary furniture. In addition to custom furniture, the liturgical furniture that I make for spiritual spaces-churches and synagogues is very gratifying, as I know the work will be well cared for and appreciated for many years. I have shown my work nationally and my work has been published in several wood working magazines. I feel very blessed and rewarded to be able to make a living at what I love to do.
What makes your business stand out?The attention to detail and level of finish of my work is very high quality. The selection of material and good design makes each piece functional and aesthetically pleasing.
What's the best business advice you've received?Do what you love and making a living will come to you.
