Earth Cadets' mission is to provide colorful, graphic, handprinted products while being champions for the earth using only eco-friendly materials

Tell us about your business.

I took a beginner class at a local art school, not once, but three times before I set out to build my own screenprinting studio in my basement. 6 months of trial & error later, I created my first successfully burned screen and cried tears of joy! With 24/7 access to a studio, Earth Cadets began to evolve. I started with tote bags, handprinted on fabric spun from plastic bottles and then added organic clothing. I then tried my hand at printing repeats to make my own fabric. If I wasn't already so in love with screen printing, I was now over the moon. The end result is incredibly rewarding and the fabric's potential knows no bounds! I am so proud to be part of a wonderful handmade community, with so many products made consciously. After all, we aren’t giant factories, churning out mass loads of products. We make things with our hands and with intention. So far, this adventure has been amazing, and everyday I look forward to building the Earth Cadets brand and making products I love.

What makes your business stand out?

Earth Cadets is unique because we have a strong commitment to the environment. All items are printed only on organic and recycled materials alongside eco-friendly inks.

What's the best business advice you've received?

"If you wait until you're ready, you'll be waiting your whole life." After 6 years working in a corporate job I took a leap of faith. I was not being fulfilled creatively but was terrified to rely solely on Earth Cadets. It was through that advice from a dear friend that was just the push I needed to jump. It's been almost 2 years and sure, it's been a giant ball of scary-strange-amazing-lonely-creative-trying-rewarding-joy-mistakes-successes all at once. And I can't wait to wake up each day and push myself to continue the growth, ability and presence of Earth Cadets.
