Great Cloud of Witnesses
Tell us about your business. In 2005, my daughter and I started Great Cloud of Witnesses to help non-profits raise money. At the time, all we had was $11, a bag of beads and findings, and a lot of imagination. What started out as a plan to make jewelry to help youth groups raise money to go on retreats, has blossomed into a business that provides Catholic jewelry and home decor for a variety of non-profits as well as having our products in various stores in the Acadiana area. When making our pieces, we pray that the piece will bless the person who purchases it. Part of the reason that most of our pieces are one-of-a-kind is the understanding that there is beauty in diversity. I am looking forward to the day when I can expand my business to include employees. I worked for many years in special education, and am hoping to employ people with special needs, so that I can help them learn good work skills.
What makes your business stand out?We have always put a big emphasize on helping the community, as well as providing a quality product. Most of our pieces are one of a kind, and are almost all Catholic in nature.
What's the best business advice you've received? If you don't put it out before the public, people can't buy it.
