I create unique birdhouses – inspired by books, combining my love of birds with my compulsion for book collecting. For indoor roosting only!

Tell us about your business.

After a career in print production and a move from Chicago to California, I have embraced the outdoors and all the West Coast has to offer. I have been intrigued by all the birds visiting our back yard, and started to do collages based on birds and their nests (as featured in my profile picture). The next thing I knew, I was creating 3-d art collages combining my passion for books and birds into creative birdhouses. The roofs are the books themselves, and the pages are decoupaged and sealed on the sides of a wooden base. The perches are inspired by the stories in the book. Books that a library may view as a discard, I see as a treasure. With so many great books and titles, I believe there is a market for my inspired creations.

What makes your business stand out?

What is unique about my business is the transformation of books from their original purpose into an interesting birdhouse with added elements relating to the story, all determined by my interpretation. All my life experiences have made me the creative unique person I am and is expressed in all I do.
