Pat Gallagher/The Hydro Life

American Made Since 2010

Pat Gallagher

Reno, Nevada
I am the inventor of The Hydro Life 7.8 recirculating shallow water culture bucket system. Need more awareness 4 What & Where our food comes from

Tell us about your business.

I started my business because I felt there was a gap in the changes with today's typical Hydroponic Bucket systems. I thought if more people saw the way that I have grown in the past that they could use this to produce more and larger volumes of produce. It is very tough to get people to see past the stigma that Hydroponics have in the US today! WHY? I feel it because there hasn't been enough education on Hydroponic FOOD growing. Growing up I was always taught Farmers work in the dirt. Well as I got older I also realized that in places where land was scarce they used water to grow food. I see the US and the way people View growing hydroponically changing over the next few years. We for sure need healthier and more awareness about food. If you think about it today's generation aren't running out to follow in there Farming parents lifestyle. We need to focus on making farmers and growing food "COOL" in this country! I mean we ALL eat and we all "want" things but we all "NEED" food.

What makes your business stand out?

Well funny question.... What makes the "Martha Stewart" brand unique? Well in my opinion is it is your value to what you do. It doesn't matter if it is cooking a dish, taking care of a pet, something in clothing, you always are passionate about what you do and what your product stands for. THAT is what stands out about my product and what makes both I and my product unique. I am very passionate about getting people to see past the blinders of the word Hydroponics and think it means W--D growing. We need more FOOD thinking. Now I know I am one of millions of submissions but please try and think back to being in your scandal and the way people viewed you?? Just ignorant of people to judge and why can't more people think about caring and sharing than hatred.

What's the best business advice you've received?

Believe, Keep my head high and always focus on the task at hand. Understanding I will here the word NO more than I will here YES....It is how you behave and react to the NO more than anything! Be HUMBLE! From my Mom "Today is the first day of the rest of your life"
