Food,

Tell us about your business.

We do make fabulous cakes that we ship all over the country. However our real product is taking care of people, our employees and our customers. Many of our customers have become friends. This cake business was started due to an authentic 7-Layer Caramel Cake being served at a gathering. We have stayed true to the traditional recipes we make. Customer Service and the consistent quality of our cakes are very important to us. Last, but not least, we have so much fun growing this business with such wonderful customers.

What makes your business stand out?

I served a 7-Layer Caramel Cake at my son's christening 32 years ago. The response to this recipe I had known all of my life was that no one was making it anymore due to the time it took and the technique that was necessary for it to be correctly made. Our mixer might be a little bigger than in a home kitchen, but all of our cakes are made with the same love and attention to quality that you would have making them in your home kitchen. We hope to keep traditional, favorite recipes alive. Our real product is 'taking care of people.' We share in their stories and the memories that our cakes awaken for them. It is the very best part of our business, getting to know our customer and welcoming them into the type of community we want to live in. Making a quality product over and over again holds a close second to our Customer Service.

What's the best business advice you've received?

Stay true to who you are. Be authentic. Take care of others and it will happen. Do not short change your quality, no matter what. Strive for continuous improvement always.
