Artists to Watch

American Made Since 2007

Ceci Butler

Maplewood, Minnesota
We are a greeting card company who works with a select group of artists to design, print and distribute beautiful cards featuring their work.

Tell us about your business.

Artists to Watch produces a wholesale/retail line of greeting cards featuring the work of independent artists. We are a very nice group of people who love designing, printing and selling cards almost as much as we love helping to support artists. We have a wonderful staff of 6 and have fun creating, printing and distributing cards. We are dedicated to promoting our artists as well as our cards. Everything we produce is 100% sourced from US vendors, and all of our cards are produced down the road 12 miles! We use recycled paper and veggie based inks on all our cards and in our packaging.

What makes your business stand out?

The fact that we work directly with the artists and present a portfolio line of their work is very unique in our industry. Most card companies cherry pick images from a variety of artists but we have dedicated ourselves to promoting an entire line of each artists work. We produce most of our cards in either blank or greeted versions so that we can fill the needs of both galleries and retail gift shops. Our dedication to the environment is also unique. Many card companies source at least part of their supplies and printing from overseas, but at ATW we not only print everything locally - we also source everything we use from American manufactures, from envelopes, to packing materials!

What's the best business advice you've received?

Listen to your own voice! We are lucky to work with artists who we admire and we respect. Their work is amazing and we know that if we create a card that we love others will as well. We work very hard not to become trite or insincere in our writing, and to create cards that speak to people. The written word has a way of mingling souls and we want a create a card worthy of that objective.
