The Chalkboard Tee by Class Attire
Tell us about your business. We started when Chris, a handyman in NYC, used some of the chalkboard wall paint back in 2006. He thought it would be cool on a shirt. It was, until washed. Jinyen saw this shirt and said " Why aren't you selling these?" They started selling them at NYC markets and the rest is history. Check out the longer version of the story here: http://www.thechalkboardtee.com/our-story/ Our shirts are cut and sewn in California. The chalk pocket (yes, there is one of those) is sewn on, the chalkboard is screen printed on (with our top-secret process), and the shirts are packaged and shipped all from New York. We just began our fundraising program, because with the budget cuts our education system is seeing - in particular the art side - this is a perfect time for a creative product to help these schools make money. We see our shirts being used everywhere from school fundraisers to retail outlets (already selling in such places as the MoMA design store) to events, restaurants, etc..
What makes your business stand out?Well, we make a Chalkboard T-shirt. Lots of people make cool t-shirts, but The Chalkboard Tee is customizable to the point that you can change it throughout the day to fit your mood. There's a pocket on the bottom of the shirt so you always have your chalk handy. : )
