Unique patent pending high visibility, high quality pet vests, handmade in Virginia to promote safety for dogs everywhere.

Tell us about your business.

My dog vests were originally designed as a project I started with my 93 year old mother, who recently passed on her trade as a designer and seamstress. We really wanted to create a vest that would be comfortable for our Leonberger, Annie, that would also stylishly increase her visibility and safety. A year later Dog in the Woods morphed into a workroom full of ideas for custom vests, memory-foam pet beds, crafty leashes and a second job. I hope to make these products a nationwide success and create new jobs here in the USA.

What makes your business stand out?

Most vests are strapped under the dogs stomach, trapping a dog if they are caught in brush, barbed wire or by another animal. A Dog in the Woods vest has no straps, slips on easily over the head and is made to release. There is no other product like it on the market. I currently run this small business myself, a single mother, with the help of my twin sons William and Joseph.
