Tell us about your business.

Savarin and Charton started as a project to reinvent the way that people perceive the American Flag. The idea is to connect the material form of the flag with the image and meaning behind it. Through the use of thoughtful materials and fine craftsmanship we are presenting the flag the way it deserves to be shown. Our flags are made with English wool bunting or Irish linen. These are the materials used in some of our oldest existing American flags dating to the late 1700's. Each flag is then carefully crafted by hand right in the heart of New York City. Now that we have perfected our art we want to apply this ethos to other flag designs. This will include historical American flags as well as State and International flags.

What makes your business stand out?

Savarin and Charton will donate 1% of all sales to the DAV (Disabled American Veterans) fund.

What's the best business advice you've received?

The best business advice that I’ve received was that you have to know your limits and to not be afraid to work with other people when you are starting a business. The biggest misconception that people have before starting a business is that they can do everything on their own. The sooner you realize that the sooner you will get things off the ground. In business its all about collaboration.
