Tell us about your business.

Once upon a time, I was climbing the corporate ladder. Then my son was born and life as I knew it changed. Instead of endless workdays and overnight travel, I wanted to raise my son while following my dream. I wanted to make his world a better place. So... My goal? To create an organic soap with the power to change lives. Today, Poppy Soap Co. is an eco-friendly micro-business with a mission to create quality, sustainable, organic soaps that give back to local U.S. communities. Our soaps are lovingly handcrafted in small batches using the highest quality organic oils and therapeutic essential oils that work to support healthy vibrant skin. Our organic soaps are now carried in high-end spas such as The Four Seasons and boutiques across the U.S.A and internationally. You deserve pure goodness from your soap and that's why we use only the most beneficial organic ingredients. Better for you and better for the planet!

What makes your business stand out?

What makes our organic handmade soap company unique is that for every bar of soap you purchase, we donate a bar to your local women's shelter. We call it Bar for Bar! So far we have donated 3,000 bars of soap to women's shelters across the U.S. Our product, our people, and our customers are making an impact by working together as a community, hand in hand, bar for bar.

What's the best business advice you've received?

I received a pearl of wisdom from a dear friend at a time when I was fearful about to taking the next big step in my business, which was hiring staff. She said. "If your dream does not scare the 'sheesh' out of you sometimes -- then you're not dreaming big enough". I was dreaming big. I was totally scared. This may not be nuts and bolts business advice, but it was exactly what I needed to hear at the time. For me, being an entrepreneur has been about following my gut and ignoring fear!
